Children are a blessing, watching those tiny people run around might be exhilarating, but for parents, watching their children deal with life’s challenges is even more inspiring. Macie, age 6, shocked her father by skipping school. However, this move saved his life.
The ideal time to influence a child, according to studies, is between the ages of 0 and 5. At this age, children are quick to acquire information, which affects both their personal routines and school life.
Consequently, helping your kids understand life and how to navigate it does not end with providing them with regulated comfort or giving them the best gifts when they act right. Instead, it also boils down to teaching them some antics like quick thinking and how to handle emergencies.
That is just what Kyle Semrau, a father of two who lives in Eliot, Maine, is doing with his children. Kyle, a general farmer and chief chef, was discovered unresponsive by his 6-year-old daughter, who thankfully saved his life by using her acumen from her father.

On April 12, 2022, Macie, a kindergartener, made the decision to skip school. Although they had never approved of their child skipping school, her parents somehow agreed to let her meet her father, whom she had claimed to miss.
The 6-year-old was fortunate to have her dad home all day. Kyle had complained earlier about feeling dizzy after working the previous night. The kids had the ideal chance to develop a relationship with their father because of this.
Caleb and Macie, both 4 years old, were left with him after his wife, Kate, left for work. Kyle decided to take a nap, but his discomfort got worse rather than better when Macie soon discover their father drifting in and out of consciousness.

According to Sea Coast Online, when Kyle briefly regained consciousness before going back to black, she made him recite his phone’s passcode so she could unlock the gadget. She opened the Safari browser after opening his phone, looked up the local police department’s phone number, dialed the business line, and provided Judy Smith, the department’s administrative assistant and a former dispatcher with Sanford’s police agency, with the necessary information.
Eliot Police Chief Elliot Moya recalled Smith telling him about the 6-year-old girl, “She was like, ‘She knew everything. She was amazing. Macie potentially saved a life.” Smith was floored by Macie’s decision-making and her ability to stay calm. The little girl listed the family’s Goodwin Road address while explaining that her father was in trouble. Meanwhile, Caleb consoled his father.

Caleb recalled how he and his sister had shut the basement door to prevent the family dogs from entering, only to open it when the cops showed up there. Kyle Semrau claimed that the incident entailed problems with his sinuses, which resulted in trouble breathing and maintaining consciousness, even though the precise cause of the medical emergency was kept a secret.
“Macie called the police, and I was crying a lot, and then she [Judy Smith] heard me crying on the phone, and then she said it was OK,” Caleb said.
Kyle was transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, where he required four liters of oxygen and spent three days recuperating, thanks to Macie. Kyle picked up his phone after receiving treatment at the hospital. There, he noticed that the search term “Eliot police” was misspelled in his browser history.
Referring to police arriving in two minutes, thanks to Macie’s call, a grateful Kyle said, “Just incredible all around. I’m very lucky, obviously because of my daughter and son and the (police) response. It was quick,” And referring to the extent of his daughter’s actions and son’s assistance, “It was incredible,I was in tears myself,” he added.
Not only Kyle but others were praising Macie. The young girl was praised by the Eliot Police Department for her quick thinking and excellent observation. Additionally, what appeared to be “divine intervention” wasn’t ignored. Eliot Police Chief Elliot Moya praised the Semraus for teaching their kids about being aware of their surroundings as well as typing and communication skills, saying that it “sounds like the moon and the stars aligned.”
Moya told Kyle, “It just sounds like that’s what you’re doing is teaching awareness all around. That’s amazing and clearly it’s working.”
“[Macie] just happened to be home. The whole thing, the whole incident, is just incredible,” Kyle admitted. The Semraus disclosed that the incident happened on the one-year anniversary of the passing of Kate’s grandmother, raising questions about possible divine intervention and whether it had any influence on how events transpired.
